Two young men wait to sign documents by Patwon Ji ki Haveli, an intricately carved mansion (‘haveli’) made of sandstone that is considered the most important building of its kind in Jaisalmer.

The ornate balconies projecting from the facade (jharokha) were build to permit the household’s women to see outside without being seen themselves but could also used to position archers and spies. It’s an exquisite building.
